PREMIERSHIP GLORY WITH COACH CAM SHEPHERD

Thursday, September 28, 2017 - 3:25 PM

The last game of Australian Rules ever to be played at Subiaco Oval (Domain Stadium) was an intense and physical encounter. Two evenly matched teams with great pride. There was only to be one winner, and that was to be Peel Thunder FC. The youngest club in the competition had won Back to Back premierships.

The teams resolve and ability to work together for the common cause was evident throughout the battle.

The first quarter erupted at a frenetic pace with Peel getting an early break, scoring the first two goals through Dawson and Ugle  before the rain set in. With the rain came the stoppages. Sean Darcy started to exert his influence and Danyle Pearce was effective in surging the ball forward.

At Quarter time Peel held a lead of under a goal and the game was bound to be a battlefield.  Peel suffered the loss of Zac Dawson with a serious leg injury and were a man down midway through the first quarter which was magnified as Josh Deluca suffered  a massive cork to his thigh which limited his ability to run at speed.   Peel were under siege with 3 quarters still to play.

THUNDER SECURE GRAND FINAL POSITION

Written by: Fraser Palamara

Peel Thunder are back-to-back grand finalists after beating the Subiaco Lions by 24-points at Leederville Oval to earn a spot in the 2017 WAFL Grand Final.  The Thunder held the lead at each major break finishing with a final score of 14.8 (92) to Subiaco’s 10.8 (68).

Peel player Brayden Lawler said securing a win and a spot in the grand final is good, but is only half the job.  “It’s awesome, Peel are a good chance to go back to back this year,” he said

“It’s a great feeling, but we know that getting there is only half the job and we still have to rock up to the game and give a good effort on the day and come home with a win.”

Subiaco were first to score with a behind one minute into the game, but were goalless until 25 minutes into the first term, whilst Peel scored five majors.

Lawler expressed the importance of having a strong start to the game as Subiaco broke away early last time they played each other.

COLTS SEASON 2017 COMES TO AN END

Wednesday, September 6, 2017 - 10:33 AM

Written by: Talent Manager John Deitz

A gutwrenching 1 point loss to East Perth saw the final siren sound on the Peel Thunder Colts season on Saturday at Fremantle Oval.

A behind to East Perth in the first 5 seconds of “golden point” was the culmination of a poor final quarter which saw the colts give up a 27 point lead at the final change to finish in 5th position for the 2017 season.

Despite the way the season ended the colts squad had a strong season, with 50 players representing the club at the level. In a great sign for the future, 35 of these players are still eligible to play colts football again in the 2018 season and with continued development should be a group to be reckoned with next season.
