Round 2 Preview and Team Announcement

All three of our Women's sides make the trip to Leederville this weekend, with a Grand Final Rematch with Lions beckoning for the League side.

The Rogers Cup team fresh off their hard fought 3 point win over East Fremantle last weekend, will be looking to go 2-0 against a Subiaco side that fell to a heavy defeat against the Reigning Premier South Fremantle. Dakota Sexton and Tessa Liddington will make their debut adding to the sixteen other debutants from Round 1.

Bouncedown is from 2pm.

In the Reserves, both sides will be looking to bounce back to winning ways after dropping their opening round fixtures. The Thunder have some notable inclusions with Jade Calley, Ebonee Hardie making their season debut, while Kerrilee Brown drops back from the League. Kira Phillips the WAFLW leading goal kicker last year will continue to work her way back through the Reserves, Phillips kicked one in the loss last week but spent most of her time in the second half down back. Expect her to have a massive showing in Round 2.

Finally the main event, the League girls will be eager to once again prove they are the team to beat in 2021 in the Grand Final rematch. The girls put together an outstanding four quarter performance in their Round 1 win last weekend, leading at every change.

The forward line was the main talking point for the Thunder, as even without the WAFLW leading goal kicker Kira Phillips they still managed to kick 8 goals, Kate Bartlett kicked 3 and marshalled the inexperienced forward line, Ella Roberts added a couple as did Jade Briggs.

Katie-Jayne Grieve in her first game back at the club since 2019 was outstanding all game through the middle, setting up numerous forays into attack.

Premiership Captain Krystal Carter comes back into the side after a good performance in the Reserves and Premiership Player Bailey Molloy also breaks back into the talent forward line.
