The Peel Thunder Football Club is proud to announce that former West Coast and Gold Coast midfielder Matt Rosa will join the club as the General Manager of Football Operations.

Rosa who played 27 Games for the Thunder between 2005 and 2010, will have a role overseeing all Men’s, Women’s and Community Football Programs at the club. While also providing the coaching, support staff and player's guidance and direction as to the management of training and game day activities. He will also be at the centre of recruitment, with a focus on building a strong culture and high standards amongst the playing group.

Rosa, 33, can’t wait to get started on his new role and is looking forward to getting to work with Senior Coach Cam Shepherd in building and adding to the current mix of young up and coming talent, Premiership stars and experienced AFL players.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to work with all the players and staff and look forward to building strong relationships.

I have strong connections with the club since my playing days. Really value family and community and I look forward adding value to the culture and standards of the club.

I’m really looking forward to working with the coaches and staff on providing an Elite Development Program for our local talent to help them become the best people and footballers they can be” Rosa said.

CEO John Ditchburn is thrilled with the appointment and is excited by the prospect of having an individual that has been exposed to the AFL system for the last 15 years.

“We can’t wait. To have someone of Matt’s calibre available and to get him to come here is going to be great for our footy and we expect him to be a great ambassador for the club as a whole.” he said.

“It’s going to be a large undertaking especially from where we have come from in 2020, but we believe there is no better person and fit for our footy club going forward” Ditchburn said.

Please make Matt, wife Hayley and kids Otis and Lenny feel welcome if you see them around the club!
