2019 WAFLW fixtures finalised

Fixtures have been finalised for the 2019 Optus WAFL Women’s Premiership season, with Round 1 to kick off on Sunday, May 5, featuring games at New Choice Homes Park, East Fremantle, and Steel Blue Oval, Bassendean.
 
The competition’s inaugural season will see the five WAFLW teams play each other three times across 15-rounds, with a three-week finals series culminating in a televised Grand Final as a double-header with the WAFL Preliminary Final on the 7 Network.

Thunder aim for finals return

PEEL Thunder narrowly missed the finals in 2018 denying them the chance at a WAFL premiership hat-trick but coach Cam Shepherd is buoyant over their prospects in 2019.

The Thunder won the premierships of 2016 and 2017 to create history and then had the chance to make even more in 2018. But Peel narrowly missed out on qualifying for the finals and Shepherd subsequently had an extra month of planning for the off-season than the previous years.

The result has been the retention of much of Peel's solid core of Thunder players with them topped up by the recruitment of former Essendon AFL midfielder Jackson Merrett.

PTFC Colts Squad announced for 2019

From commencing in mid November with an initial squad of 80 players, the Peel Thunder Colts have finalised their squad for the 2019 Simply Energy WAFL Colts competition.

Bupa boosts the health of WA footy

?Healthcare provider Bupa has added its support to the newly launched WAFL Women’s competition and Channel 7’s WAFL broadcast as a premier partner of the West Australian Football Commission.


Bupa will help take the new women’s competition to a wider audience by supporting the live-streaming of a WAFLW game on the WAFL website each week, and the 2019 WAFLW Grand Final broadcast live on Channel 7.

Peel Thunder Futures 2019 Squad Accounced

After a strong pre-season campaign, the Peel Thunder Futures squad for 2019 has been named this week.

Pre Season Update with Coach Cam Shepherd

The players have shown great energy and commitment in preparation for the 2019 WAFL season.  We are really pleased with the quality of the playing group.
 
Standouts since training began in November have been Ben Hancock, Jarvis Pina, Jake Howes, Andrew Butler and Ray Guidice.  We have over the last couple of weeks also welcomed in Jackson Merrett and he is settling in nicely.

Optus WAFL Women's competition confirmed for 2019

A new West Australian Football League Women’s (WAFLW) competition will kick off in 2019, with five teams to compete in the inaugural Optus WAFLW Premiership Season.

East Fremantle, Claremont, Peel Thunder, Subiaco and Swan Districts will each field a WAFLW team in 2019, with South Fremantle receiving a provisional license for 2020.
