Peel Thunder Statement – CAS ruling

The Peel Thunder Football Club is bitterly disappointed to learn of today’s ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport to suspend 34 past and present Essendon players, including Thunder Vice-Captain Leroy Jetta, for 12 months.

Jetta played 93 games for the Bombers from 2007-2014, before joining Peel Thunder last season where he played 21 games and kicked 39 goals.

The 27-year-old was also a pivotal member of the Thunder’s first finals campaign in 2015, and his leadership on and off the field was crucial to the young group’s success.

Peel Thunder CEO John Ditchburn said the Club was disappointed to learn that it would be without the services of Jetta for season 2016.

“The outcome today is extremely disappointing, and we feel for Leroy, who has already been through so much during this ordeal,” Ditchburn said.

“Our main concern is for Leroy at the moment, and as a Club we will be standing by him to give him all the support he needs.”
