RD 15 Review

Coming off a big win against Perth last week, this weeks fixture against last-placed Subiaco was going to be a danger game. Peel lost to Subiaco in their last meeting at Bendigo Bank Stadium and we knew that they would approach this game with real intent and effort. It was clear early on in the first term that Peel hadn’t quite brought their best effort and Subiaco were dictating play to the Thunder. Whilst the defence was holding firm it was through the midfield where the Thunder were hesitant to attack the ball. There were a few good passages of play and whilst the quarter was disappointing the team were still up by 2-points at quarter time. The second quarter was much of the same, with Subiaco dropping numbers behind the ball and the Thunder boys reluctance to stick to their trademark ball movement and selfless play contributed to Subiaco being in the game still at half-time, trailing by just 3-points.

A strong review at half-time outlining the processes which are team trademarks was had and the response was outstanding. Kicking out to a 5-goal lead by 3-quarter time and then eventually 44 points by the final siren. The strength of the resurgence was in the team-first approach of players with concerted effort to bring physicality and disciplined ball movement.

On the back of five straight wins, the Thunder now face a big challenge against the third-placed East Fremantle at Bendigo Bank Stadium this Saturday night with bounce down at 5.00pm.

This week our colts play Saturday night after the League game at 5.00pm and then the following week we play Claremont on the  Wednesday night at 6pm! The Kitchen will be open from 5pm - 9am on the Wednesday night and as per normal after the game on Saturday.
