Peel Thunder Football Club is entering into an exciting new era with the Club having formalised a partnership with AFL Club Fremantle Dockers. The five year partnership aims to deliver sustained improvement for Peel Thunder in the WAFL whilst at the same time establish vital development pathways for Fremantle and Peel players.

With the 2014 fixtures just released there are some fantastic clashes that will no doubt excite our supporters. Our Round 1 game against East Perth (partnered with West Coast Eagles) at Bendigo Bank Stadium will no doubt create great interest and will no doubt be a marquee fixture for the WAFL going forward. Round 5 sees us at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Good Friday against East Fremantle. This home fixture against the Sharks is fast becoming a traditional Good Friday game with the rivalry and respect that both Clubs have for one another is sure to be an exciting affair.

The Round 8 away match against West Perth will see the two Clubs play for the Ramsey Health Cup. The rivalry stems from the association between Joondalup Health Campus and Peel Health Campus wanting a stronger involvement in our great game.

Round 9 is a community event for the Club as it takes on South Fremantle at Bendigo Bank Stadium. The Jamie Oliver Food Revolution is celebrated on that day throughout the world and through the hard work and enthusiasm of Paul Turnor from the Good Guys, this will be a standout fixture for the Club both in a football sense and a community initiative.

This season Peel Thunder will be playing 10 home and 10 away fixtures. Overall the draw is a relatively tough one, but in saying that no game in the WAFL is easy. Peel Thunder have been fixtured to play East Perth (Grand Finalist – 2013), East Fremantle (5th – 2013), Perth (6th – 2013) and South Fremantle (7th – 2013) three times and the rest twice. It is a must that we aim to win all of our 10 home games – make Bendigo Bank Stadium a fortress for Peel Thunder and our supporters will be playing a vital role in our endeavours.

In the overall scheme of things it is a tough draw, but we did not expect any different. The WAFL is a high calibre competition played by high calibre players. Every WAFL game in a sense is a marquee fixture. Our sponsors will derive benefit not only through the extensive media coverage the WAFL receives, but also their association with the Peel Thunder brand.

Roll on 2014 and I hope to see you at the game.
