In exciting news for the Peel Thunder Development Program, three players have been selected in the Western Australian State Academy first intake squads for the 2014 season.

Colts players Brad Walsh and Dylan Winton have been selected in the first intake for the Under 18s squad, while Noah Hura was rewarded for his excellent Under 15s development carnival with selection in the Under 16s squad.

Walsh has been rewarded for an outstanding 2013 season, in which he played for Western Australia at the NAB Under 18 National Carnival, made his league debut in round 21 against Swan Districts, was runner up in the Peel Thunder Colts Fairest and Best award, and was also selected in the WAFL Colts team of the year. The midfielder from the Rockingham club has also been selected as a member of the Level 2 AIS/AFL Academy for 2014. Brads ability to win centre clearances, work both ways. leadership and composure under heavy pressure are standout features of his game.

Winton has also been rewarded for a fantastic season, where he represented Western Australia in the NAB Under 18 National Carnival, and made his league debut in round 22 against South Fremantle. Dylans athleticism, defensive skills and ability to read the play have seen him gain selection in the first intake. At 191 cms, the Halls Head junior is capable of playing multiple positions on the ground and is one to watch over the 2014 season.

For Hura, the selection in the first intake caps a great season where he represented Western Australia in the Under 15s School Sport Australia national championships in Darwin, and had a fantastic carnival for Peel Thunder in the WAFL Under 15s Development Carnival in October. The athletic midfielder/half back from Mandurah Centrals Junior Football Club has a great ability to run and carry the ball, and is a fantastic reader of the play.

The three boys selected will take part in an elite program designed to develop all aspects of their game, as well as undertake physical testing, personal development sessions and learn leadership skills. All at Peel Thunder wish the three boys all the best as they enter an exciting phase of their football development.
