Round 16 match report - Cam Shepherd

Peel Thunder started the round in equal 5th (actually 8th) and we were up against the second placed South Fremantle in an important game.

The players enjoyed the tough conditions, and from the start kept real pressure on SF and had a fast start kicking five goals to two in the first quarter.

Harley Bennell was dominant with his clearance work early, supplying the forwards and the pressure from Sam Switkowski and Brayden Lawler continually forced opposition error.

By the end of the third-quarter however, SF had fought their way back in the game, controlling possession and constantly getting the ball inside 50. A lead of two points coming into the last quarter with a charging Bulldogs, was a great challenge. With an even contribution across the ground the Peel boys dug in and regained control of the stoppages and outscored SF 4 goals to 1. Players to lead the way included Blair Bell, Danyle Pearce, Traye Bennell, and Ben Hancock.

We now look forward to playing West Perth next week in another very important game.
