ROUND 2 - SENIOR DEVELOPMENT MATCH DAY REVIEW WITH COACH DANIEL HAINES

Tuesday, April 10, 2018 - 12:48 PM

Travelling to Steel Blue oval is never easy and with three players promoted up to the League team, after quality performances in Round 1, we knew Swans would be a tough assignment.

Keegan Power,  in for his first game after a year at South Mandurah, played a solid game on the wing and will be better for the run.   Joel O'Driscoll also played his first game back at the club, after a few Premierships with Pinjarra and looked right at home.  Joel finished with 4 goals.  His class around the forward line will be a massive asset for the club this year.   Rob Shindler Taylor also played his first game for the club and looked better the longer the game went.   His skills and run will add to our clubs quality.  Welcome to the club 'RST'.

Our start to the match was pleasing.   The intent to tackle and pressure on the opposition kept the ball in our half, which we did pretty well over the 4 quarters.   5 goals to 1 in the first quarter set up the win and the guys never looked back.

Luke Strnadika has been in good form in the ruck and gave our mids first use of the ball.  He took 12 marks and kicked 1 goal.  Brad Walsh continued his good start to the year with 35 disposals along with Michael Humble (24) and Corey Morris (24).

Kaine Ah-Chee's pressure set the tone for the forwards, causing turnovers which kept the ball in our forward line ,where Brad McGowan finished the hard work with 4 goals.

In the backline Matt Dean lead from the front with his aggressive marking and pressure acts which saved the team when we looked out of position.

To finish the game with a 39 point win was a great reward for the team.

Again we strive to improve upon last week, look to play our best football and bring great attitude against Perth.
