Peel Thunder Football Club – Strength and Conditioning Internship Opportunity

 
The Club:
The Peel Thunder Football Club is a not-for profit organization competing in the West Australian Football League. Based in Mandurah, the club operates out of training and administration facilities which are considered elite for a state level organisation, including a newly refurbished strength and conditioning facility which will provide athletes and coaches a competitive edge in the semi-elite competition.
 
The Peel Thunder Football club provides itself on professionalism and will be a key requirement of the successful applicant.
 
The Role:
The Peel Thunder Football Club is looking for the future Strength and Conditioning Coach. The successful applicant will assist the Head Colts Strength and Conditioning coach in the delivery of weights programs, running sessions and testing protocols. The new structure of the WAFL colts competition will provide the successful applicant exposure to elite program design, GPS monitoring, athlete monitoring and game day processes.
 
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist Head S&C coach in delivery of programs
• Assist in recording data
• Assist in GPS monitoring
• Assist in performance testing
• Assist on game day including
o Live GPS tracking
o Using interchanger software
o Athlete monitoring
o Data collection

Applicant Requirements
• 2nd/3rd year of exercise science/physiology bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Essential-1st years still completing exams will be considered)
• Completed S&C unit or ASCA Level 1 (Essential)
• Passion for Strength and Conditioning (Essential)
• Willingness to learn (Essential)
• Working with Children’s Check (or willing to obtain one – essential)
• Basic knowledge of Australian Rules Football (Advantage)
• SMA Sports Trainer Level 1 (Preferred)
 
Available a minimum of 1 training per week (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday) plus Saturday mornings during the playing season.
 
Additional Information
• Pre-Christmas training runs from the 27/11/17 - 19/12/2017.
• Post-Christmas re-commences 15/1/2018 with the season finishing in September.
• There will be the potential of up to 3 positions available.
