REDIMED WAFL COLTS JACK CLARKE MEDAL WRAP

The Jack Clarke Medal for the Reidimed WAFL Colts Competition was held at Domain Stadium on Wednesday night.

In a landslide victory, Perth Football Clubs Luke English was named the winner of the Jack Clarke Medal, following Peel Thunder midfielder Michael Humbles 2016 victory.

Peel Thunder had a strong night in terms of awards with 4 players selected in the Redimed Colts Team of the Year, as well as recognition of achievements by individuals within the State Under 18s program.

Jordan Boullineau was selected on a half back flank in the Team of the Year. Boullineau had a strong season, playing 14 games, averaging 17.5 disposals and 5.5 marks per game across half back. Boullineau also represented Western Australia in the national championships in all 4 carnival games and made his mark on the competition. The Baldivis product was Peels best player in their semi final loss to East Perth on the weekend and will be looking to perform well at the State Combine in October.

Aaron Naughton was recognised for his outstanding season with selection at Centre Half Back in the Team of the Year. Naughton was a standout in his 7 colts games early in the season, before representing WA in the national carnival and now graduating to league football over the finals series. Naughton averaged a staggering 4.5 contested marks in his colts games, 18 possessions and also went forward to kick 5 goals. The Rockingham Rams junior also was named Western Australias best and fairest player for the national carnival, as well as receiving his All-Australian jumper from AFL Academies Manager Michael Ablett in an outstanding recognition of his season. 

Damon Cramer was named on a half forward flank in the Team of the Year. Cramer averaged 13 possessions and 6 marks in his 12 colts games, kicking 15 goals. Cramer also represented the state in the Under 18s carnival and made his league debut in round 16 vs West Perth. The Rockingham junior is a great example of persistence, as he missed selection for Peel at Under 16s level and only played 3 games in his first year of colts footy, and to have made his league debut and play state football is a huge credit to his resilience and hard work. 

Kyle Havelberg was named as a midfielder on the interchange bench after a season full of grunt work inside the contest. Havelberg averaged 20 possessions a game (14 contested), 6 clearances and over 7 tackles per game. He also drifted forward to kick 8 goals over the course of the season. Havelberg, also from Rockingham, was a key in the Thunders midfield all season and had a number of games with over 20 possessions and 10 tackles. Havelberg finished 3rd overall in the Jack Clarke medal with 30 votes.

Havelberg placed 3rd in the Jack Clarke Medal on 30 votes, with Lachy Mitchell polling 24 votes, Jake Howes 22, with Jakeb Shine and Jackson Perry on 19.
