Saturday saw Peel Thunder have their first interclub club hit out against Subiaco with some encouraging results, and some pleasing performances, as we build towards our round 1 game against Claremont on March 20th at Bendigo Bank Stadium.
Two senior games were played in very challenging conditions; Peel Thunder won game 1 convincingly, and Subiaco returned the favours in game 2. The coaches were pleased with the overall performances as many players intent to embrace and implement our new style of play was encouraging.
It was great to see our senior players in Buszan, Haines, McLeod, Boone and Beswick do well in game 1, leading by example and building on their conditioning in readiness for the season proper. New recruits in Daniel Murray(Ruck) and Brodie Filo(BP) showed they will be valuable acquisitions to the club.
We took the opportunity to play our younger players in game 2 against a very senior Subiaco side. No doubt many lessons were learnt and it enabled these younger aspiring league players to gauge their progress. Rhett Mason, Blayne Wilson and Blake Piggott, all colts players from 2009 came under notice, as did returning ruckman Jacob Williams.
This week sees us travel to Arena Joondalup(Sat 6th) to take on West Perth in round 2 of the preseason challenge and the coaches will be keen to see continued improvement across the whole squad.
We look forward to your continued support.
Trevor Williams
Senior Coach
